Politics w/ Michelle Grattan
Operating out of the Parliament House Press Gallery, I worked for Michelle Grattan, once described by Tony Abbot as “the toughest journalist you will ever encounter”. I’d like to think I inherited this diligence, developing my skills as an assiduous researcher and fact-checker, specialising in federal politics, and working closely with The Conversation’s multimedia and audience teams to increase the reach of Michelle’s coverage. While producing, editing, and distributing Michelle’s Podcast ‘Politics with Michelle Grattan’, I achieved considerable audience growth, as well as the development of “Word on the Hill”: a new, short-form podcast.
Some things I did:
Love + Money
Love + Money is a digital agency specialising in brand design.
As copywriter, I worked closely with the creative team in a ‘hyper-collaborative’ environment that specialised in building user-centred digital brand platforms through creative sprints, honing not just my copywriting but also my visual presentation skills. I developed social copy, slogans, tone-of-voice documents, and video scripts for a diverse range of clients. I was especially appreciative of the chance to pitch my work directly to clients, honing my ability to justify my design choices.
Some things I did:
Kim4Canberra
During the 2022 election, I worked as media adviser to Independent Senate candidate in Canberra, Professor Kim Rubenstein. Responsible for media strategy, I plotted the course of press releases and media appearances in the lead-up to the election, including the tactical distribution of Kim’s policy platform, responses to news of the day, event organisation, and a ‘constantly-on-call’ approach to providing media and communication insight. A particular highlight of the campaign from a communication standpoint was the coordination of Kim’s reddit ‘Ask Me Anything’, where over two hours I led a team in drafting and responding to constituent queries in real time.
Some things I did:
ThePeersProject
Working with an exceptional team of creatives, I was one of a handful of copywriters employed byThe Peers Project. While working mostly on client podcasts, developing creative strategies and podcast shownotes, I also played an active role in the direction of the internal podcast Peers2Peers.
Some things I did:
[Redacted]
The Customer team within KPMG specialises in providing design thinking and user-centric professional services, including a digital experience and creative branding capability. Within the team, I worked mostly in a brand strategy capacity, while also lending my bid-writing skills to the development of proposals to win work. I developed a keen understanding of government procurement processes, including the nuances of AusTender. Some noteworthy engagements I worked on include designing adaptive digital licences in Figma, creating a verbal framework for a new Defence organisation that had to ‘sound different to Defence’, while also developing a distinct visual identity, and writing standard operating procedures and designing process maps for a commercial enterprise team.

A large extent of this work is business confidential and sensitive by nature. If you have appropriate clearance, please reach out for a copy of my unredacted portfolio.
